Services: Energy Mapping

Small wind energy solutions mapping

  • Satellite data and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) are used to identify the optimal location for wind testing equipment.
  • GIS models are based on digital elevation models, meteorological conditions, obstacles, roads, power lines and geologic conditions such as faults that might affect siting decisions.

Geothermal energy mapping

  • Most geothermal surface waters have already been discovered. There are shallow geothermal waters beneath the surface, however, that have not been discovered. Identification of these hidden geothermal systems requires knowledge of geological conditions including fault locations, characteristic mineral associations, and surface thermal anomalies.
  • Initial work is conducted using satellite data and GIS mapping techniques combined with analysis of available geologic information. These data will quickly determine if further evaluation is warranted though onsite field analysis.
